How much Pag-IBIG takes in 2026 — and the MP2 savings program most people miss.
Effective January 2026Pag-IBIG (HDMF) is your government housing and savings fund. In 2026 the mandatory contribution is small: 1% if you earn ₱1,500 or less, otherwise 2% — but only on the first ₱10,000 of monthly income. So the most you ever pay is ₱200 a month, matched by ₱200 from your employer.
Computed on a maximum ₱10,000 fund salary.
| Monthly income | Employee rate | You pay | Employer |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₱1,500 & below | 1% | up to ₱15.00 | up to ₱30.00 |
| ₱1,500.01 – ₱9,999.99 | 2% | ₱30.00 – ₱199.99 | same |
| ₱10,000 & up | 2% (capped) | ₱200.00 | ₱200.00 |
Your mandatory ₱200 is tiny. The interesting part of Pag-IBIG is MP2 (Modified Pag-IBIG 2) — a voluntary savings program you can add on top. You choose the amount (from ₱500), it pays a tax-free dividend that has recently beaten ordinary savings accounts, and it matures in 5 years. It is one of the simplest ways for a salaried Filipino to save with a return. It is optional and separate from the deduction above.
If you earn ₱1,500 or less a month you pay 1%. Above ₱1,500 you pay 2%. Your employer pays 2%. The contribution is computed on a maximum monthly income of ₱10,000, so the most you pay is ₱200 and the most your employer pays is ₱200.
₱200 a month for the employee. Because the fund salary is capped at ₱10,000, anyone earning ₱10,000 or more pays the same ₱200 — earning more does not raise it.
MP2 (Modified Pag-IBIG 2) is a separate, voluntary savings program on top of your mandatory contribution. You choose how much to put in (minimum ₱500), it earns a tax-free dividend that has recently been higher than a regular savings account, and it matures in 5 years. It is optional and does not replace your regular Pag-IBIG.
Yes. The ₱200 is only the mandatory maximum. You can voluntarily contribute more to your regular Pag-IBIG, or open an MP2 account for higher tax-free returns.
